NBA Rookie of the Year Announced

Paolo Banchero, who plays for the Orlando Magic in the American Basketball League (NBA), was named rookie of the year.

According to the statement on the NBA website, the 20-year-old Banchero won the best rookie award in the 2022-2023 season as a result of voting by members of the media.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Jalen Williams was second and the Utah Jazz’s Walker Kessler was third.

Banchero, who won the award nominated for players who completed their first year in the league and is named this year after legendary basketball player Wilt Chamberlain, finished the regular season with averages of 20 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Banchero, meanwhile, is the third Magic player to win this award, after Shaquille O’Neal (1992-1993) and Mike Miller (2000-2001). (AA)
