The scandal does not end in Italian football! Police raid in Rome, Lazio and Salernitana
It has been reported that teams from the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza) searched the clubhouses of the Roma, Lazio and Salernitana teams from the First Football League (Serie A).
According to news from Corriere dello Sport, one of the country’s main sports newspapers, financial police teams carried out searches at the clubs of the Roma, Lazio and Salernitana teams as part of an investigation carried out by the Rome Attorney General’s Office.
On the back of the prosecution, which was cited as the reason for the raids, it was stated that there were references to the transfers of footballers made by these clubs during the period of 4 seasons between 2017 and 2021.
In the investigation, it was noted that no information was shared about which transfers were under investigation.
Meanwhile, while the Salernitana club confirmed the news of the search in the press, it was stated that the period before the change of ownership was examined, not the current institutional structure of the club, and that they were open to cooperating with justice.
In Italy, searches were carried out at different times in the buildings of the black and white club in Turin, Milan and Rome, within the framework of the Prisma investigation launched by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office against Juventus in 2021.
According to the investigation’s findings, the Italian Football Federation’s sports judge had sanctioned Juventus with a deduction of 15 mid-season points in sporting terms. This process and the judicial process against Juventus, which objected to this sentence, continues. (AA)
