Mitrovic banned for 8 matches
Fulham Club’s Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been banned for 8 games for behavior that led to a red card in the English Federation (FA) Cup quarter-final.
Mitrovic’s violent behavior towards referee Chris Kavanagh and his use of inappropriate, abusive, insulting and threatening language were cited as justification for the independent organizing committee’s decision. Mitrovic was also fined £75,000.
The Board ruled that Fulham manager Marco Silva, who received a red card in the same game, was banned for 2 games and fined £40,000.
In the 72nd minute of the game on March 19, with Manchester United leading 3-1, Fulham’s Willian was shown the red card when he clipped the ball headed for his goal and the opposing team won on a penalty. Objecting to the decision, Mitrovic pushed the referee and walked towards him after seeing a red card. (AA)
