Fasting protest of Paris Saint-Germain supporters
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans reacted with a banner when the French Football Federation (FFF) banned the suspension of matches to break the fast for Muslim footballers.
Before the game, the group of supporters of PSG Paris Ultra Collective, where PSG, the leader of the French Ligue 1, hosted Olympique de Lyon yesterday, protested this move towards Muslim footballers with a banner that read “A date, a glass of water, is the nightmare of the FFF”. .
In a letter sent to the Federal Commission of Referees on April 30, the FFF requested that matches not be interrupted so that Muslim soccer players could break their fast in accordance with the principle of secularism, and warned that those who act against it could be punished.
RELEASED FOR THE FAST
Jaouen Hadjam, the Algerian-born defender for Nantes, one of the Ligue 1 teams, was removed from the squad by coach Antoine Kombouare, alleging that he continued to fast on game days. Nantes lost to Reims in the match that Hadjam did not play.
In England it was announced that during Premier League and lower league matches, referees will give players time to break their fast when play is stopped. (AA)
