Conditional license for Russian and Belarusian athletes

The Board of Directors of the World Taekwondo Federation (WT) announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to participate in the World Championships, regardless of their country, under the banner of WT.

The WT Board of Directors met extraordinarily with the agenda of Russian and Belarusian taekwondo players to participate in the competitions. Turkish Taekwondo Federation President Metin Şahin and Foreign Relations Officer Ali Sağırkaya attended the video conference held under the direction of WT President Chunwon Choue.

In accordance with the decision made, Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to participate in the World Championships, which will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in May, regardless of their country, under the WT banner and individually. A commission will be established and the athletes will be determined according to the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). (AA)
