Victor Osimhen: Playing in Istanbul is a dream
For his performance in the Italian Football First League (Serie A), goalscorer Victor Osimhen was awarded the “Best Foreign Sportsman of the Year” award by journalists who are members of the Foreign Press Association, headed by Esma Çakır in Italy.
Osimhen, who showed the best performance with 19 goals in 22 league games, announced that his goal is the Premier League.
On the possibility of Napoli participating in the UEFA Champions League final, which is scheduled for June 10 in Istanbul, and being on the pitch, Osimhen said: “This could be a dream.”
“THE CITY OF NAPOLI IS GOING CRAZY NOW”
Asked if Napoli have not been champions for 33 years and if this has put pressure on them, Osimhen said: “We are about to make history. Without a doubt, we want to take the trophy home. We are doing our best. We are having a very good season. We haven’t done anything yet. We must continue to play as a team to achieve our goal of success.”
When asked about racism in Italy and Europe, Osimhen said: “In Naples, unlike other cities I’ve been to, they don’t differentiate between blacks and whites. Racism is such a bad thing, like a disease. All the whites I met in football were great. I believe that blacks and whites can live together. We are all brothers, ”he replied.
“I AM VERY SORRY FOR THE ABSENCE OF MY MOTHER”
Victor Osimhen, who lost his mother at a young age and later grew up in financial difficulties, explained his feelings on his transformation into one of the best strikers in the world after a difficult childhood and youth:
“I felt very much the absence of my mother. When I was very young, I had a difficult life and grew up with great limitations. He only had enough to survive. However, she has made me the person I am today. Now I am happy that football has brought honor and fame not only to me, but also to my family. I try to be a source of motivation and inspiration for future generations to achieve their goals. I’m also very happy with that.”
“NEXT TO THE STATUES OF MARADONA…”
Osimhen said: “Your photo can be seen on cakes in some bakeries in Naples. Your figurines are sold together with the Maradona figurines. How does that make you feel?” He replied: “I feel very good. It’s great to see myself aware of these things that are being done in Naples. I never thought that this could happen so soon after arriving at the club. I think this is something big for me. That’s how they show me their admiration in exchange for what I’ve done on the field. That motivates me more, to make them happy this season”, he replied.
“ALL OF HUMANITY WITH SYMPTOMS SHOULD HELP THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE”
After the earthquakes in Turkey, the Nigerian player, one of the footballers who put his shirt up for sale on the internet to help the victims of the earthquake, left the following message:
“I don’t know how much the shirt sold for. My teammates like Bartosz Bereszynski, Khvicha Kvaratshelia also sold their jerseys. Eljif (Diamond) organized this campaign. Of course we support. If you have sympathy for humanity, you have to. It’s a great feeling for me to contribute to this. My condolences to those who lost their lives in the earthquakes. I also lost an African brother in these earthquakes, Christian Atsu from Ghana. May he rest in peace. It is a great loss for the world of football. Because we all know it. He followed him when he was very young. This is very bad news. This is life. What can I say! My condolences to his family.”
