Duplantis sets world record
Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis broke his own record with 6.22 meters at the World Indoor Tour organization in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Billed as the most talented athlete in pole vault history, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games champion has set a new world record for the sixth time.
The Swedish athlete cleared 6.17 meters for the first time in Torun in February 2020, followed by 6.18 meters in Glasgow a week later. The 23-year-old athlete had to wait two years for the next world record. On March 7, 2022, he surpassed 6.19 meters in Belgrade and 13 days later he won the gold medal at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in the same city, raising the bar to 6.20 meters.
Four months later, the Swedish athlete broke the outdoor world record for the first time by crossing 6.21 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon. Most recently, Duplantis broke his own men’s pole vault world record of 6.22 meters in Clermont-Ferrand. (AA)
