Shock penalty for Fernando Muslera
FIFA announced the sanctions for the incidents at the 2022 World Cup match played between Ghana and Uruguay on December 2, 2022.
It was reported that Fernando Muslera and José María Giménez of the Uruguay national team were suspended 4 each, and Edinson Cavani and Diego Godín were banned for one match due to their aggressive behavior towards the referee. In addition, it was reported that Muslera and Giménez were fined 20,000 Swiss francs each, and Cavani and Godin 15,000 Swiss francs each.
It was pointed out that the sanctions of the players will be valid in the next official matches of the Uruguayan National Team. He specified that the Uruguayan Football Federation will be penalized with the partial closure of the stands and a fine of 50,000 Swiss francs, valid for the first national match in the local field.

By defeating Ghana 2-0 in the last match of Group H of the 2022 World Cup, Uruguay finished third in the group on goal difference and said goodbye to the tournament. The Uruguayan team, which was devastated with the final whistle of the game, took breath from the German referee Daniel Siebert.
With the end of the game, the Uruguayan soccer players, who surrounded the referee Siebert and his assistants, showed a harsh reaction. Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, walking towards the assistant referee, pushed the referee from behind with his hand. The assistant referee was baffled by Muslera’s play.
