The world number 1 made no mistakes

Swiatek and Tsitsipas advance to round 4 at the Australian Open

The third round matches began on the fifth day of the Australian Open held in Melbourne.

The Polish Swiatek, who won 3 Grand Slam titles in women’s singles, defeated the Spanish world number 100 Cristina Bucsa, who was coming from the qualifiers, 2-0 with 6-0 and 6-1 sets.

Jessica Pegula of the USA (3rd seed) won 2-0 over Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine, ranked 61st, with sets ending 6-0, 6-2.

The 18-year-old American Coco Gauff (7), who played in the final of the French Open last year, defeated the world number 41 Bernarda Pera from the same country with a score of 2-0 (6-3, 6-2 ) .

In women, the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (17), the Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl 2-0 (6-3, 6-0), the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (22), the American Danielle Collins 2-1 (6-2, 5- 7, 6-2), the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (20) defeated the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina 2-0 (6-2, 6-3) to advance to the fourth round.

In the fourth round, the matches Swiatek-Rybakina, Ostapenko-Gauff and Pegula-Krejcikova will be played.

FAVORITES JUMPED ON SINGLE MEN

The favored tennis players, who took the court in the morning session matches in men’s singles, became famous in the fourth round.

Playing in the semifinals three times in the tournament, Tsitsipas of Greece defeated world number 63 Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands 3-0 (6-2, 7-6, 6-3).

The Canadian racket Félix Auger-Aliassime (6) defeated the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo (28) 3-1 in sets that ended 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4.

In men, the Italian Jannik Sinner (15), the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics 3-2 (4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0), the Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (31) from the USA. USA Mackenzie Mcdonald ‘ 3-0 (7-6, 6-3, 6-2) to the 4th round.

Auger-Aliassime’s opponent Cameron Norrie-Jiri Lehecka will be the winner in the fourth round, when Tsitsipas equalized Sinner, and Nishioka’s opponent will be the Karen Khachanov-Frances Tiafoe winner. (AA)
