Real Madrid took their second defeat

Real Madrid lost 2-1 against Villarreal on matchday 16 of the Spanish First League soccer (LaLiga). Real Madrid, who are fighting for the La Liga championship, suffered their second defeat in the league.

In the first half of the game, which ended in a goalless draw, Villarreal, who played better, went ahead 1-0 with Yeremy Pino in the 47th minute. Although Real Madrid equalized the score in the 60th minute with a goal from Karim Benzema from a penalty, Villarreal took the lead again, this time from a penalty in minute 63, with Gerard Moreno. In the following minutes, Villarreal won the field 2-1 when they did not change as a result of mutual attacks.

Real Madrid ranks second with 38 points, while Villarreal ranks fifth with 27 points. Leader Barcelona (38 points) will face Atlético de Madrid tomorrow at home.

For their part, Real Madrid will play at home with Villarreal on January 18, with whom they also met in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. (AA)
