Arguing with Song, Onana left the team
Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, who left the camp after arguing with coach Rigobert Song during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has announced he is leaving the national team.
Sharing on social media, the 26-year-old Onana said: “My story with the Cameroonian National Team is over. Players come and go, names are temporary but Cameroon precedes any person or player. Cameroon’s love is eternal. Also, my love for the national team and our people, who always support us even in difficult times, is infinite. My feelings will never change.” he used the phrases.
Onana played all 90 minutes in the first match of Group G, where they lost 1-0 to Switzerland. After this match, it was reported in the press that Onana had a disagreement with coach Song over his playing style. After the discussion between the two, the 26-year-old player left the camp. Song entrusted the tower to Devis Epassy for the remaining matches.
Onana, who grew up in Barcelona’s infrastructure and transferred to Inter this year after a stint at Ajax, made 34 caps for the national team.
