“I think they have killed you”
Shortly after Wahl’s death, his brother Erik claimed that his brother was killed for his criticism of the Qatari regime.
Eric Wahl, who shared a post on Instagram, said:
“My name is Eric Wahl, I live in Seattle, Washington. I’m Grant Wahl’s brother. I am gay. I’m the reason he wore the rainbow jersey at the World Cup. My brother was healthy. He told me that he had received death threats. I can’t believe my brother is dead. I think they killed him and I ask for help.”
Although Grant Wahl’s body was flown to the US, it emerged that his family would not reveal the cause of death until an autopsy was performed in the US.
