Weghorst announces Van Gaal’s will

Wout Weghorst: “Louis van Gaal wanted some energy and physical challenge”

Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, who scored 4 points in his first 2 matches at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, stated that he had to win his last match against Qatar in Group A and stressed the importance of being the leader of the last 16 days.

The 30-year-old Dutch footballer, who was a member of Beşiktaş, made statements after the match with Ecuador, where they drew 1-1.

Stating that they played a tough match, Weghorst said: “It wasn’t our best game. We weren’t good enough. Ecuador is a strong team. We were forced against them. We have 4 points right now and we have everything to be in first place”. he used his statements.

Wout Weghorst, who replaced Cody Gakpo in the 79th minute of the match, said of his performance: “I came into the game to give the team momentum on the pitch and do the best I could. We must do everything we can to succeed. Our coach wanted some energy and physical challenge.” he said.

“FINISHING LEADER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SECOND PLACE”

Wout Weghorst, who emphasized the importance of being the leader of the round of 16 by winning the last match of Group A, shared the following views:

“We have to win the last game because we want to be leaders. We will go for the win and we need to score 3 points. Being first in the group is important. Being the leader is much more important than being second. Now we have to focus on the Qatar game. There are special things to accomplish here.”

Expressing that he is very happy to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Weghorst thanked the Turkish fans for their support and sent the message “See you” in Turkish.
