one goal was enough

Brazil reached the round with a single goal in the match against Switzerland

Brazil and Switzerland met in the second match of Group G of the 2022 World Cup which took place in Qatar. By beating Switzerland 1-0 in the game played at the 974 Stadium, Brazil reached 6 points at the end of two games and ensured to stay in the round of 16.

The goal that led Brazil to victory came from Casemiro in the 83rd minute. Brazil’s ball, which entered the net with Vinicius Junior, was invalidated after the application of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The winning team in the match between Brazil, who beat Serbia 2-0 in their first group game, and Switzerland, who defeated Cameroon with a single goal, would be guaranteed to leave the group. By defeating their opponent, Brazil secured promotion to the next round with 6 points. Switzerland has 3 points.

Cameroon and Serbia have 1 point each in the group.

Group G will play Cameroon-Brazil and Serbia-Switzerland on Friday, December 2.

A NET POSITION IN THE FIRST HALF

Brazil was the team that was close to the goal in the first half of the game, which was quite agile and sterile in terms of position. During the 27th minute of the game, Vinicius Junior, who was forgotten at the far post in the middle of Raphinha’s right diagonal sent into the penalty area, rebounded with his knee on his volley shot, and goalkeeper Yann Sommer flicked the ball into the corner.

Apart from this position, there was no serious attacking attempt in the first half.

THE BALL THAT WENT TO THE NETS CAME BACK FROM THERE

In the second half, the tempo of the fight increased and both teams created danger with mutual attacks. Before an intermediate pass from Carlos Casemiro in the 64th minute, Vinicius Junior quickly entered the penalty area from the left diagonal and put the ball into the net from the corner with an elegant placement. After the VAR review, the ball that entered the net was invalid because Richarlison was offside at the start of the position.

CASEMIRO BRINGS THE TOUR

In the last part of the game came the goal that put Brazil ahead. In the 83rd minute, Vinicius Junior made a pass to Rodrygo from the left wing in the penalty area. Rodrygo sent a single touch without waiting, and Casemiro finished off with a strong volley in the left diagonal of the penalty area and brought the ball to the net from the right corner.

With no other goal in the remaining minutes, Brazil defeated Switzerland 1-0 and guaranteed exit from the group.

Haris Seferovic, who plays for Galatasaray in Switzerland, came on for Breel Embolo in the 76th minute, but failed to turn the score around.
