Former President Trump will not deliver his own closing arguments in his civil business fraud case in New York after his lawyers objected to the judge’s insistence that the former president stick to relevant cases.

Judge Arthur Engoron revoked the consent on Wednesday, a day before closing arguments in the trial.

The lawsuit could cost Trump hundreds of millions of dollars in fines and deprive him of his ability to do business in New York. His lawyers had said on Thursday that he planned to take the extraordinary step of personally delivering a summary, alongside arguments from his legal team.
