The haters gon’ hate (hate hate hate hate), but do Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce even notice?

If
Taylor Swift
is spreading her wings (wherever her tour is now), will this cause a hurricane of conservative backlash in America? Evidently.
The sight of Taylor Swift cheering on rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce (alongside his mother) at the star tight end Kansas City Chiefs-Chicago Bears game last week caused such an earthquake in pop culture that it even moved the legendary coach
and suspected golem
Bill Belichick is sobbing and joking. On The Greg Hill Show he said, “Well, I would say Travis Kelce has had a lot of big catches in his career. This would be the biggest.”
Because Swift won’t resume her Eras tour until October. The singer was reportedly spotted in New York City over the weekend and is expected to be in attendance tonight when Kelce’s Chiefs take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ
An appearance would undoubtedly stoke curiosity about the relationship, bringing joy to many but irritating others, especially conservatives who have no love for Swift or Kelce.
The gravitational waves of Swift’s influence can be detected in sacred signs like jersey sales (Kelce’s shot into the NFL’s Top 5 and his merchandise sales increased by 400
% per cent
after last Sunday’s game), ticket sales for the Chiefs, not Swift (StubHub reported a nearly 300% jump
per cent
), and the Most Holy of Holies, Instagram Followers (social media and branding agency

tight end won over 860,000). Longtime NFL reporter Adam Schefter posted on the platform formerly known as Twitter that this figure meant he gained more followers than he did after all three Super Bowls he played in combined. The second biggest NFL winner from last week? Travis’ brother Jason Kelce (137,000 added).
Travis and Jason host the “New Heights” podcast, which also saw a significant boost. Co-singer and suspected
Team member
Hailee Steinfeld
has been
spotted with the mother of another NFL superstar
, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen’s mother. More evidence of the Swift kick? Judge for yourself, dear readers. (Spoiler alert: It’s not; Steinfeld and Allen were publicly linked in May 2023, though perhaps Swift is so powerful that she went back in time to make HailJosh possible?)
However, is this the real deal? That is, is this real love? A flirt? Or just a clever bit of synergy thought up by smart marketers?
Whatever it is, it’s definitely not

Taylor Swift’s bleating is a gold digger. Travis, get a prenup! (Conservative lawyer George Conway responded and that with “Taylor Swift’s estimated net worth: $740 million. Kansas City Chiefs active salary cap spending in 2023: $202 million.”)

so, uh, Xd: Taylor Swift hates America Taylor Swift loves communism. Maybe Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift would be good together.
However, it makes sense that this

Kelce isn’t known for overt political statements, but he has done the next worst things in the eyes of some
: He made by making
ads for Bud Light and commercials for the COVID vaccine.
Right-wing commentator Tomi Lahren denounced Swift’s left-wing, liberal, brain-dead political views and wished the two luck, not necessarily with their relationship, but rather with myocarditis (in 2022, the National Institutes of Health published an article stating that, while proving causality is a particular challenge is [a study of] more than 151 million individuals [showed] the incidence of vaccine-related myocarditis was 0.95 per 100,000 persons”).
That put off other commentators on the right, such as Charlie Kirk, by thinking: What will break Kelce’s heart first? The COVID shot or Taylor Swift?
To make matters much worse (for some), Swift recently encouraged her 272 million Instagram followers to vote. She linked to the nonpartisan nonprofit Vote.org, which reported an increase of more than 35,000 registrations after posting on National Voter Registration Day, up 23%
the same day
last year.
The Federalist published an article in early September titled Taylor Swift’s popularity is a sign of social decline.
(which does not address the possibility that the use of capital letters “A” and Of in a title, while these are not the first words, could also be capitalized).

But none of this seems to faze Swift herself, whose fandom continues to chug along. Her soon-to-be-released Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film shattered single-day sales records (when she couldn’t land a distribution deal with major studios, she worked Taylor’s version of it directly with AMC and Cinemark and now the film has already seen its run was significantly expanded and expanded, with Swift sharing as much as 57% of revenues with distributors)

the Chiefs are currently at the top of their division. Whether there’s a real romance, or just a friendship, or a marketing ploy, Swift and Kelce seem to be doing just fine.
Perhaps their critics would do best to shake it off before they have to see what they make them (and their legions of fans) do in November.
