Giuliani and another lawyer said Tuesday that the two improperly accessed and shared his personal information after obtaining it from the owner of a computer repair shop in Delaware.
The lawsuit was the latest in a new strategy by Hunter Biden to hit back against Donald Trump’s Republican allies, who have traded and passed on his private information, including alleged emails and embarrassing images, in their bid to destroy his father, President Biden. to discredit.
The lawsuit accuses Giuliani and attorney Robert Costello of spending years hacking, tampering, manipulating, copying, distributing and generally obsessing over the data taken or stolen from Biden’s devices or storage, leading to the total destruction of Biden’s digital privacy.
The lawsuit filed in California also alleges that Biden’s data was manipulated, altered and corrupted before it was sent to Giuliani and Costello, and has since been further altered. Opening, accessing and sharing it violated laws against computer hacking, the lawsuit states. It is seeking unspecified damages and a court order to return the data and stop making copies.
Ted Goodman, a political adviser to Giuliani, said it was wrong to claim Giuliani had tampered with the laptop’s hard drive, but he was “not surprised… given the nasty material and potential evidence of crimes with that thing .
Costello previously represented Giuliani, but recently filed a lawsuit against the former New York

mayor says he hasn’t paid more than $1.3 million in legal bills.
Costello declined to comment. In February, he told the Associated Press that a letter from Hunter Biden’s lawyers requesting a Justice Department investigation into him and others linked to the laptop was a frivolous legal document that smacks of desperation. because they know judgment day is coming for the Bidens.
Tuesday’s lawsuit marks the latest twist in the long-running laptop saga, which began with a New York Post story in October 2020 detailing some emails it said were found on the device and were linked to the Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. It was quickly seized upon by Trump as a campaign issue during that year’s presidential elections.
Biden does not explicitly acknowledge that the laptop left at the computer store was his, but says at least some of the data was on his iPhone or backed up to iCloud.
A Justice Department special counsel is conducting a separate investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes and has filed charges against him for firearm purchase and possession after a previous plea deal on taxes and gun ownership imploded. He plans to plead not guilty to the weapons counts, according to court records.
House Republicans, meanwhile, have continued to investigate every aspect of Hunter Biden’s business dealings and sought to link them to his father, the president, as part of an impeachment inquiry. A hearing Thursday is expected to revisit some of their claims.

He has changed tactics across the country, and his allies have signaled more to come. In recent months, he has also sued a former Trump aide for his alleged role in publishing emails and embarrassing images, and filed a lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service. His personal information was wrongly shared by two agents who tested pretend whistleblowers as part of an investigation by House Republicans into his business dealings.
Biden has also pushed for an investigation into Giuliani and Costello, along with the owner of the Wilmington computer repair shop who has said

Biden dropped off a laptop at his store in April 2019 and never returned to pick it up.
Giuliani provided the information to a reporter at the New York Post, who first wrote about the laptop, Biden’s attorney said in a letter urging a federal investigation.
