Drenthe was the latest province to report on Tuesday how much money it thinks it needs. Previously, the province remained vague about this, until the government indicated that Drenthe is in danger of getting nothing, certainly not for the next two years. The provincial government then indicated an amount: 4.5 billion.
The fund is not increased
Gelderland had previously put the biggest bid on the table. The province with the largest Natura 2000 area, the Veluwe, says it needs €10 billion for countryside transition. South Holland (9 billion) and North Brabant (8) are very close to the declared amount. Limburg wants around 6 billion, Overijssel (5.2), Friesland (5.2), Utrecht (3.7), Groningen (3.1), Zeeland (1.7), North Holland (1.2) and Flevoland (1) bring the total amount to more than double the available funds.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Nature has previously announced that the fund will not be increased.
