JOVD extremely critical of VVD and Rutte IV Related articles

JOVD President Michiel Suijker and National Information Officer Bram van Bon voice strong criticism of the VVD and outgoing Prime Minister Rutte in an opinion piece on the FD. They call the party a “visionless advocate for one’s home and one’s car, while contemporary challenges on asylum, nitrogen, the economy, and the climate transcend one’s driveway.”

In the opinion piece, Suijker and Van Bon summarize where things went wrong at Rutte IV, including the housing shortage, a growing budget deficit, the asylum crisis and the nitrogen crisis. Reason why JOVD members label the government as “unreliable” and “indecisive”. They also note a lack of recognition among VVDs.

For Suijker and Van Bon, the only bright spot in the opinion piece is the performance of the VVD, which was the reason for the government’s fall. “The fact that the VVD is showing color on the asylum practice and drawing the line on the unsustainable influx is to be commended.”

JOVD members have a clear message for the VVD. They want to put an end to the “compensatory drift” and the “overcharge monster”. According to them, the VVD, as a ‘liberal party’, must have a progressive response to climate and equality of opportunity, with a more equal relationship between the burden on labor and capital.’

It is not the first time that the JOVD has been so critical of the VVD and of Rutte. For example, the youth party criticized the VVD in the asylum crisis and accused Rutte and his party of lack of vision in the nitrogen crisis.
