Water, of course, won six seats in Schieland and Krimpenerwaard in the March 15 water council election – at the same time as the provincial council election – making it the largest party.
BROKEN | “Abolish water board elections”
The coalition agreement in this water council is called “Working together for future-proof water management in turbulent times”. The BBB, which received three seats, was not given a seat on the board. The BBB Group called the four-page coalition deal “disappointing, unambitious and financially unfounded”. Other parties have also been critical of the deal and said they lacked vision. In most other water boards, the BoerBurgerBeweging is part of the board.
Deadline Thursday
All water councils had to form a new council by today. Hollandse Delta (Wednesday) and Rotterdam-based Schieland and Krimpenerwaard did so shortly before that deadline.
Half of the twelve Dutch provinces now have a new coalition: Limburg, Gelderland, Zeeland, Flevoland, South Holland and Groningen. Negotiations are still ongoing in the other provinces. Friesland and North Brabant saw a last-minute formation fail. Both provinces are now negotiating a coalition in a new composition.
