The Sector Council for Practical Education, which organized the event, speaks in a press release of an “accident” involving Wiersma and “people from the congress organization”. An interested person who wishes to remain anonymous refers to an “unpleasant” and “unpleasant” conversation. As long as discussions about the incident are ongoing with the ministry, the Sector Council is unwilling to comment on the circumstances.
Sharp and too bright
Wiersma has been under fire for months over allegations of misconduct. In April, after reporting in the media, Wiersma admitted that he was cutting and sometimes too vicious towards his officials. A month later it turned out that during his time as a member of parliament for the VVD, complaints about Wiersma’s behavior had also been received within his group. In a conversation with the faction, the minister apologized for his behavior. He expressed confidence in the minister after promising that the misconduct was a thing of the past.
At a recent VVD conference, Wiersma repeated his apology and the minister said: “I’ve learned my lesson, it won’t happen again.”
Mark Rutte has repeatedly said he thinks party member Wiersma may stay despite the reports. “I understand Dennis Wiersma wants to talk to the people involved. It seems good to me,’ says Rutte now.
Bad behavior
According to a spokesman, the Bussum incident is the only report the ministry has received since April’s misconduct complaints. On Wednesday, De Telegraaf also reported “heavy talks” between senior Education Inspectorate officials and Wiersma. This was confirmed by an inspectorate spokesman, without wanting to express a value judgment on the conversations.
The minister has been ill since Friday and has therefore also canceled a visit to India. According to a spokesman, the minister’s absence has nothing to do with the complaint that has been made.
