More Coalition Support for Debate on Election Results Related articles

The House of Representatives is still debating the election results. The coalition still intends to support GroenLinks leader Jesse Klaver’s call for a debate to discuss it in two weeks’ time. The idea is to hold the debate on April 4, sources in The Hague report.

On Tuesday, Klaver tabled a proposal for debate, but the coalition parties still didn’t like it. This much to the frustration of the opposition parties. Klaver then wanted a roll-call vote, but it has since disappeared from the agenda. The reason for this is that the coalition has changed its mind.

It is unusual for the House of Representatives to discuss Provincial Council elections. However, Klaver wanted it because major changes occurred in this election. BBB has become the largest in every province and is therefore also gaining a strong position in the Senate. The governing parties VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie suffered heavy losses.
