One such party is the PvdA/GroenLinks tandem. They particularly celebrated the collaboration, says Beekman. Does collaboration have more flavor? GroenLinks leader Jesse Klaver does not rule out cooperation for parliamentary elections.
The result of the polls is seen as an unequivocal agreement with this cabinet. CDA leader Wopke Hoekstra speaks of “a landslide” and “a loud slap in the ear”. “Not just for all of us in The Hague, but also for the CDA.”
Dissatisfaction
According to Beekman, however, dissatisfaction is great and could put the necessary pressure on the current coalition, as evidenced by the statements by Derk Boswijk during the Machiavelli debate in The Hague. There Boswijk said regarding statements by D66 MP Tjeerd de Groot (who has nitrogen in his wallet), that the BBB “couldn’t have wished for a better campaign”.
“This shows how sensitive this is within the coalition,” says Beekman, “The nitrogen issue is one reason the CDA has lost so many seats, and D66 is partly responsible for that.”
