All parties in the House of Representatives are in favor of continued support for Ukraine, with the exception of PVV, FvD and Groep Van Haga. This concerns both material support in the form of weapons and financial support. And the House of Representatives is freeing up quite a bit of budget for this: €2.5 billion this year.
According to Beekman, there are concerns in the House of Representatives as well. Mainly on the fact that Europe is so dependent on US support when it comes to Ukraine. “And the elections aren’t even that far away. A different US policy towards Ukraine could change the dynamic completely.”
Yesterday evening, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Cooleba, also visited the House of Representatives. He then flew with Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra on the Dutch government plane to New York, where Hoekstra addressed the United Nations Security Council. They get back together on Friday.
