Courteney Cox says pens aren’t her friend.
The 58-year-old actress revealed her beauty secrets and cosmetic missteps on Tuesday’s episode of the Gloss Angeles Beauty Podcast.
When asked what her biggest beauty regrets were, the ‘Friends’ star didn’t hesitate to say she went too far with fillers.
“It’s a domino effect,” she told podcast hosts Kirbie Johnson and Sara Tan. “You don’t realize you’re looking a little down, so you keep doing more because you look normal to yourself.
“You look in the mirror and say, ‘That looks good.’ You don’t think and realize what it looks like to outsiders.”
According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, dermal fillers are “gel-like substances” that are injected under the skin to add volume and smooth out wrinkles. They can also be used to enhance facial contours.
As Hollywood and cosmetic care go hand in hand, a growing number of stars (including Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Paulina Porizkova) are speaking out against botox and fillers haunting youth.
Cox ultimately opted to have the filler removed or dissolved, saying, “Thank goodness they’re removable.”
The Scream actress also said she’s considering posting before and after photos of herself, one with the full fill and the other after it’s been removed. But her publisher wouldn’t allow her.
“I look at pictures of myself and think I look good,” she added, “and I can’t believe it.”
This isn’t the first time the Emmy-nominated actress has spoken out about her struggles with cosmetic surgery. In February 2022, she told the Sunday Times that she hates the constant speculation about her appearance: “The exam is intense, but I don’t know if it can be more intense than what I’m wearing myself.”
Hearing people talk about her eventually led to the removal of the filling.
“There was a time when you said, ‘Oh, I’m changing. I look older.’ And I’ve been trying to hunt these youngsters for years,” she said. “And I didn’t know that, oh, s- I actually look really weird getting injections and doing things to my face that I’d never do now.”
Cox told Johnson and Tan that she wasn’t just sorry about the pens.
“To think I was getting older when I was really young is just too bad, a waste of time,” she said. “I messed up a lot and luckily I was able to undo most of it. And now I’m just older.”
