Liquidation decision of Turkish agricultural company in Sudan
Today a notable Presidential Decree was published in the Official Gazette.
It was decided to liquidate the Turkish and Sudanese International Agriculture and Livestock Joint Stock Company, which is a subsidiary of the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM).
Accordingly, liquidation procedures will be carried out within the scope of the relevant legislation and all rights and obligations arising from the shareholding will be transferred to TİGEM.
Company personnel and positions created by Presidential Decree of July 14, 2021 have been terminated.
Former Vice President Fuat Oktay said on August 13, 2021: “In the first stage, 100 thousand hectares, that is, 1 million decars of agricultural land in Sudan, have been allocated for our country to process.”
The government’s decision to exploit agricultural land in Sudan sparked a reaction from the opposition.
