Inflation in Germany fell to 2.3 percent

The fall in inflation in Germany exceeded expectations in November. Annual consumer inflation in the country, which was 3.0 percent in October, decreased to 2.3 percent in November.

With the impact of falling energy prices, inflation reached its lowest point in the period after June 2021.

In the Reuters poll, economists’ average inflation expectation for November was 2.6 percent.

Energy prices fell 4.5 percent annually in November.

Food inflation in Germany decreased from 6.1 percent in October to 5.5 percent in November.

Core inflation, which excludes food and energy prices, fell from 4.3 percent in October to 3.8 percent in November.

Headline inflation is expected to rise again in December due to the base effect, but to fall again at the beginning of the new year.

According to the Reuters poll, eurozone inflation is expected to decline from 2.9 percent in October to 2.7 percent in November.
