R&D center in the heart of Europe

Sabanci The Holding implemented the Sabancı Technology Center in Germany in partnership with Çimsa and Kordsa, two of the group companies. The Sabancı Technology Center, which opened its doors in Munich, aims to bring the holding’s R&D, technology and sustainable product development competence to the international arena. Located within the campus of the Technical University of Munich, the center aims to be one of Europe’s leading platforms in the field of university-industry cooperation.

UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COOPERATION

Noting the importance of university-industry collaborations, Sabancı Holding CEO Cenk Alper said: “At this point, Sabancı University is the main factor that distinguishes Sabancı from other communities. “The most concrete example of our work in this field is our Center of Excellence for Composites Technologies, which was implemented in cooperation with Sabancı-Kordsa University and is one of the few university-industry collaborations in Europe in the field of compounds”.

Alper said: “Until today, we had a total of 7 technology and R&D centers within our industrial and building materials groups, 6 at home and 1 abroad. “With Sabancı Technology Center, we will increase this number to 8 and build our first center in Europe,” he said. Stating that the products to be produced at the Çimsa and Kordsa factories in Turkey will be offered to the European market through the Sabancı Technology Center, Alper stated that this will be one of the driving forces of Turkey’s value-added export mobilization.

Sabancı Holding CEO Cenk Alper (center) announced that they direct 75 percent of their non-bank investments to the fields of energy, climate, advanced materials and digital technologies.

Concrete that dries in 3 hours

Sabanci The Flycrete product was presented at the Technology Center, which is produced in Formülhane, the R&D center of the Çimsa holding company, in Mersin and which, unlike normal concrete, reached a strength of 25 MP in just 3 hours.

While the product is claimed to be ready for airport runways and industrial facilities in the region, these products will be exported to the European market through the technology center in Munich.
