Ministry of Commerce: Illegal goods worth 14.8 million Turkish liras were seized
The Ministry of Commerce announced that customs teams confiscated smuggled goods worth 14 million 850 thousand TL at the Habur border gate, an address in Bursa and Istanbul airport.
According to the Ministry’s statement; The customs teams on duty at the Habur customs gate inspected the vehicles following the suspicious movements of the drivers of two trucks that gradually entered the customs area.
Many mobile phones were found hidden in the plastic of their trailers as legal cargo. 1,146 mobile phones worth 11 million Turkish liras were seized.
2 truck drivers were also arrested.
ITEMS WORTH 3 MILLION IN BURSA
In Bursa, customs control teams raided an address following a call made to the Alo 136 customs control reporting line.
Industrial-type coffee makers of various brands and models were found in the home’s premises, without invoices or documents.
While a total of 23 coffee machines and 4 coffee grinders were seized, the seized goods were determined to be worth 3 million TL.
THE DRONES AND THEIR PARTS WERE SECURED
At Istanbul airport it was revealed that a suspect was trying to bring many drones and their parts into the country from abroad without paying import taxes.
During the investigation, it was determined that the shipments were shredded and the suspect was going to offer the items for sale online. 269 drones and 806 drone parts were seized.
Illegal goods worth 850,000 Turkish lira were seized.
Although a total of 14 million 850 thousand TL worth of contraband goods were seized in 3 operations, the Prosecutor General’s Office launched investigations into the seizures. (DHA)
