Working mothers are entitled to breastfeeding leave so that their baby can continue to be fed regularly after birth. Breastfeeding mothers in the private sector or public officials have daily leave to breastfeed.
HOW MANY HOURS IS THE MILK LEFT?
Employees working in public institutions or in the private sector can benefit from a total of 1 and a half hours of breastfeeding leave per day after birth until their babies turn 1 year old, in accordance with the right to breastfeeding leave that is granted to them and their babies. The right to one year of breastfeeding leave, in addition to a total of 16 weeks of maternity leave before and after birth, is determined by Labor Law no. 4587.
The use of this 1 and a half hour leave is determined by the employees. It is up to the employee to determine the hours in which the time can be used and how many parts it can be divided into. This time is not deducted from daily work time.
The right to breastfeeding leave ends from the date the child turns 1 year old.
At the same time, an employee cannot benefit from the right to breastfeeding leave, which is valid both for the days when she actually works and for the days when she does not work.
HOW MUCH ARE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ENTITLED TO LEAVE PER SUBJECT?
According to Law No. 657, public officials enjoy three hours of breastfeeding leave per day during the first six months and 1 hour and a half per day during the second six months, starting at the end of the maternity leave period, with the to breastfeed their children after birth.
