How much will the minimum wage be?

The purchasing power of the minimum wage, which is the lowest wage paid in exchange for work with which a working person can satisfy basic needs such as nutrition, housing, heating, clothing and transportation, has almost bottomed out after successive increases. Millions of employees began to wait for the new year for the increase in the minimum wage.

HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?

The minimum wage has not yet been determined, but it is expected to be slightly above the hunger threshold.

According to the calculation made by BİSAM, the monthly food expenditure that a family of four must make to maintain a healthy and balanced diet is 12,612 TL for September 2023.

The hunger limit is expected to reach 15,000 lira by the end of the year.

WHEN WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE DECLARED?

The minimum wage will be determined as a result of meetings that will be held in December with the participation of workers, employers and representatives of the Ministry.

The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which is made up of 15 people, including five representatives of workers, employers and the government, as required by law. The Commission meets four times in December, as is customary, as part of its efforts to determine the new minimum wage.

The commission, chaired by one of the members determined by the Ministry, meets with the participation of at least 10 members and decides by majority vote. In case of equality of votes, the presiding party is assumed to have the majority.
