Minister Bolat asks for discounts from all sectors
The Minister of Commerce, Ömer Bolat, invited all sectors, especially the textile and household appliances sector, to support the great discount campaign.
After Bolat recently announced that they expected a large discount campaign in the markets on the occasion of the centenary of the Republic and that the industry would immediately support it, all eyes turned to other representatives of the retail industry, especially textiles and household appliances. .
While other sectors talk about taking steps within the framework of the campaign in the near future, Bolat made a new call to other representatives of the retail sector.
In his statement, Ömer Bolat asked all sectors, especially textiles and white goods, to support the great discount campaign on the occasion of the centenary of the Republic.
Minister Bolat stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call last night for discounts at market chains is becoming increasingly popular. “I invite all our merchants and companies, especially our market chains, to support our fight against inflation and the cost of living with the discounts they will offer,” he said, recalling his words:
“Heeding the call of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will be happy to see our sectors and every link in the supply chain with us in the fight against inflation. After the statements and messages of support, statements of discounts and campaigns suitable for the “Turkish century” began to arrive from each of our sectors, representatives of the chambers, merchants and industrialists, with a snowball effect. It was agreed that the fight against inflation could only be successful if it was carried out as a total action, from the beginning to the end of the production line.
In this context, I believe that the participation of each link in the supply chain in this campaign will be one of the most beautiful and concrete examples of our unity and solidarity. As the country advances in line with the vision and goals set by our President, and every day we get closer to those goals, the participation of all segments of our society in this fight is necessary, with the support provided, the steps taken and the response. from the base, it will make the result and the final path even more significant and unforgettable.”
EXPECTATION OF 60 THOUSAND STORES
The president of the United Brands Association (BMD), Sinan Öncel, regarding the call for discounts by the Minister of Commerce, Ömer Bolat, said that they hope that BMD member brands will participate in this campaign with 60 thousand stores.
Recalling that they participated in a campaign similar to that of BMD brands in 2018, Öncel said: “I predict that our brands will participate with the same volunteerism and that everyone will respond again to the call to break the expectation of an increase in inflation.”
Stating that BMD has 60 thousand stores in the country that belong to its 505 member brands, Öncel said that all these stores contribute to the economy and create added value with the sales of their brands.
Oncel said: “For this campaign to be permanent and long-lasting, all parties, not only retailers but also everyone from the courier to the creditor and leasing companies, must participate. Because the merchant cannot carry the cargo here for a long time. “If all sectors of society participate with the same voluntariness in the fight against inflation, this will be done in the long term and within the framework of national consensus,” he stated.
DISCOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE TO 30 PERCENT
Sinan Oncel pointed out that big discounts are made every year in November and continued his words as follows:
“We opened the season in September. October is practically the first month of the season. These discount rates are limited in October compared to November. But I predict this; Discounts between 10 and 30 percent are available. Discounts are made within the dynamics of each industry and the dynamics of each product. But from what I can see, the markets want to continue like this until the end of the year. This is more precisely what is expected from the markets.
I don’t know if cost increases will prevent this. This is especially about issues such as raw materials and energy. If the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has a relief situation here, if withholding tax and other items, rental tax withholding and VAT on rent can be reduced for 2 or 3 months, if other interested parties, raw material producers, shopping center managers, cargo and logistics companies are encouraged to participate here, this will be a reality: “It would be a great and total campaign.”
‘IT COULD TAKE 2 MONTHS’
BMD President Öncel noted that discounts for the centenary of the Republic can last two months, including November campaigns, and said: “The declines in non-food retail began in September. “If we can explain the October and November discount campaigns to the public well, we can achieve a quantity increase of 20 to 30 percent,” he said.
Emphasizing that for the campaign to be successful, a call must be made to all parties and that other interested parties must also participate in this discount, Öncel said: “Not only the retailer, but also our Minister of Treasury and Finance, the transporter, logistician, store owner and shopping center operator must contribute to this campaign. “Because this is not a burden that the retailer can bear alone,” he said.
