In 2018, when the New Economic Model came into force, the lowest pension was 1,578 liras and with this money you could buy 8.1 grams of gold. Today, the minimum pension is 7,500 lira, but with this money you can only buy 4.3 grams of gold.

WILL THE RETIRED SALARY INCREASE BE GIVEN TO EVERYONE?

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at his party’s 4th Extraordinary Congress.

Stating that they are determined to solve the cost of living problem by taking all necessary measures, Erdoğan said: “Hopefully, we will continue to give new good news to our workers, civil servants and retirees in the coming period. Our ministry is working on the salaries of our retired civil servants. “I hope we can announce our new good news to our retired officials after our first cabinet meeting,” he said.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that he will share with the public after the cabinet meeting the study on Bağ-Kur workers, civil servants and retirees, which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called “good news.”

In another statement he made in recent weeks, President Erdoğan said: “Our Ministry continues its work regarding retirees. It is impossible for our civil servants to receive these increases while our retirees receive nothing. We’ll take steps that hopefully you’ll like. “I make it a point to meet with our citizens at every opportunity.” He used the following expressions:

WHEN WILL THE RETIREMENT INCREASE BE ANNOUNCED?

The regulation of pensions will be discussed at the meeting of the Council of Ministers. The study prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security will be evaluated. Details of the final rule are expected to be announced after the meeting.

INCREASE OF 8 THOUSAND 77 LIRA FOR RETIREMENT SALARY

TÜED President Kazım Ergün assessed the provisional expectations of retirees. Recalling the opening of the new legislative year of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Ergün said: “Civil servants received a continuous increase of 8.77 lira, starting in July. Since the regulation is expected to be adopted in October, retirees should receive a prorated increase of 8.77 lira, the same as civil servants. Furthermore, the retiree’s base salary of 7,500 lira was insufficient. “The lowest pension should be increased at least to the level of the minimum wage,” he said.
