The price of bread rises in one more province

Bread price rise in Konya

While in Turkey the prices of all products, from A to Z, continue to increase, in Konya, known as the grain warehouse, 200 grams of bread have increased.

The price of 200 grams of bread, which was sold for 6 lira before the price increase, increased to 7 lira.

100 PERCENT INCREASE IN ONE YEAR

Bakery traders cited rising costs as the reason for the price increase.

The price of bread, which was sold for 3.5 lira in the city in October 2022, has multiplied by 4 in the last year and its price has risen to 7 lira.

‘THE WAVE OF INCREASE CONTINUES’

Konya Future Party MP Hasan Ekici reacted to the government on the bread increase. Ekici said: “The wave of increases continues after the elections” and included the following statements in his statement:

“The government said that the economy would rise after the elections, but the only thing that rose were price increases. The increases that arrive every day do not give citizens any respite. In Konya, known as the grain warehouse, the price of bread has risen again and its price has risen to 7 lira. The government also wants to take away bread from low-income people. Taking into account that a family of four eats 10 loaves of bread a day, they will have to pay 2,1000 lira just for the bread.

If you look at the last year, the price of bread has increased by 100 percent. According to the government-controlled TÜİK, inflation is 61 percent… Even when inflation in the country is calculated on bread alone, it becomes clear how unrealistic the TÜİK figures are.”
