Fine of 78.5 million for 44 companies that canceled e-commerce orders

The Ministry of Commerce announced today that it has imposed fines on 44 companies, saying that e-commerce order cancellations sparked consumer complaints.

The Ministry’s statement states that “As a result of the inspections carried out on companies that caused complaints to consumers as a result of the cancellation of orders, administrative fines totaling 78 million 530 thousand 902 TL were imposed on 44 companies in 2023.”

The statement stated that e-commerce has become widespread in recent years, but there is a need for greater consumer protection due to the lack of physical control of goods.

In this context, a total of 78 million 530 thousand 902 TL of administrative fines were imposed on 44 companies out of 61 inspected in 2023, whose practices were considered contrary to the legislation.
