When can we buy a tax-free phone and what are the conditions?
Millions of students are waiting for the one-time tax-free sale of phones and computers to students, which was one of the AKP’s promises before the elections. Although it is not yet clear, some information has been provided regarding the conditions of the duty-free phone. College students think they can have technology products at more affordable prices thanks to the opportunity for tax-free phones and computers.
WHAT IS THE LATEST SITUATION ON TAX-FREE PHONES AND COMPUTERS?
Uraloğlu stated that the tax-free regulation on mobile phones and computers that young people expect will be completed soon, noting that the implementation will begin before the end of the year.
Uraloğlu stated that the study was carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure also supported it.
Regarding tax-free sales of phones and computers, Uraloğlu said: “I think it will be completed in these days, announced to the public and will start before the end of the year.”

Uraloğlu stated that in addition to the tax-free phone and computer agreement, 10 GB of free Internet use will also be provided and made the following statements:
“As the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Institution of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education and Transport, we have received offers from operators to provide 10 GB Internet, who are the university students we will target here, how many of them. We will present it to our President. He will make this statement shortly.
Our Ministry of Industry and Technology mainly carries out duty-free regulation regarding duty-free mobile phones and computers. We also provide them with infrastructure and registration support. They are also working on what monetary limits will be covered by the regulation. “I think it will be completed today, announced to the public and started before the end of the year.”
TAX-FREE PHONE AND COMPUTER CONDITIONS FOR STUDENTS
The tax exemption conditions for phones and computers have not yet been officially announced, but it is expected to cover all university students, including those in institutions and open education.
Additionally, students will receive 10GB of free monthly internet, but duty-free phones will not cover all models. It will only cover phones made in Turkey and an upper limit will be set on the price.
Due to the requirement of production in Turkey of duty-free phones, it is expected to cover all A series phones, models Vestel, Xiaomi, OPPO, Realme, TCL, Reeder, Casper. It is estimated that there will be an average 50 percent decrease in prices for Turkish-made phones with duty-free phone and computer opportunities.
