The export unit value index decreased 2.1 percent in July and the import unit value index decreased 15.7 percent compared with the same month of the previous year.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the foreign trade indices for the month of May.

According to this; The export unit value index decreased 2.1 percent in July from the same month a year earlier. Compared with the same month a year ago, the index decreased 3.4 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, decreased 16.1 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel), decreased 34.3 percent in fuels, it decreased by 2 percent in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) 7 increased.

The export quantity index rose 10.6 percent in July from the same month a year earlier. The index increased 47.9 percent in food, beverages and tobacco compared to the same month a year earlier, increased 3.9 percent in raw materials (excluding fuels), increased 17.9 percent in fuels, 4 percent in manufacturing (excluding food, beverages, tobacco) 7 increased.

THE IMPORT UNIT VALUE INDEX DECREASES

The import unit value index decreased by 15.7 percent in July compared with the same month of the previous year. Compared with the same month of the previous year, the index decreased 15.8 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, 41.5 percent in fuels, 24.2 percent in raw materials (excluding fuels) and 6 percent in the manufacturing industry. (excluding food, beverages and tobacco), .6 decreased.

The import quantity index increased 31.0 percent in July compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared with the same month of the previous year, the index increased 42.4 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, 10.9 percent in raw materials (excluding fuels), 10.8 percent in fuels and 39 percent in the manufacturing industry. (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 0.8.

INCREASED THE FOREIGN TRADE LIMIT

Index of quantities exported by series corrected for seasonal and calendar effects; While it was 158.4 in June 2023, it decreased 6.8 percent in July 2023 to 147.6. According to the adjusted calendar series, the exported quantity index is; While it was 143.9 in July 2022, it rose 0.1 percent to 144.1 in July 2023.

The import quantity index according to the series corrected for seasonal and calendar effects; While it was 126.7 in June 2023, it rose 8.5 percent in July 2023 to 137.4. According to the adjusted calendar series, the imported quantity index is; While it was 121.3 in July 2022, it rose 20.5 percent in July 2023 to 146.2.

The foreign trade terms, which were calculated by dividing the unit value index of exports by the unit value index of imports and which obtained 77.1 in July 2022, increased 12.5 points to 89.6 in July 2023.
