TRNC will switch to 4.5G tomorrow

TRNC will switch to 4.5G tomorrow

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı stated that TRNC people will start talking about 4.5G from tomorrow and said: “1 billion 250 million lira will come in to the treasure in 4G and 5G Frequency Tender, which was held for the people of TRNC to catch up with the computer age.”

Arıklı stated that the 3G frequency has been used in mobile communications in the PSTN since 2008, saying, “Due to some bureaucratic issues, we were unable to transition to 4G.”

Arıklı stated that it was a privilege to hold such a tender, which has been worked on for years but could not be achieved, noting that Turkcell won the first of the aforementioned frequency tenders and Telsim won the second.

WE WILL ALSO GO TO 5G

Arıklı made the following assessment:

“Turkcell, which has completed the infrastructure works necessary for our citizens to leapfrog the IT era, will start using 4G and 4.5G starting tomorrow. Telsim officials, which are expected to provide the same service in November as per the specification, have also informed us that they have completed their infrastructure work and want to start providing 4G and 4.5G services soon. We said that we could address this request in the Council of Ministers”.

“The transition to 5G should take place within five years within the scope of the tender.” Arıklı said, adding that they will do the necessary work so as not to lag behind the era in technology. (AA)
