United Metal-Is announced their demands

United Metal-Is announced its demands in the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Adnan Serdaroğlu, President of the United Metal-İş Union, speaking at the press conference held at the Kadıköy Municipality Marriage Office, said the collective agreement was the largest in the private sector and covered most workers.

Serdaroğlu affirmed that the collective agreement that will be concluded in this legislature covers approximately 12 thousand workers affiliated to 34 companies in which the union is organized, and affirmed that the salary increase proposals consist of 3 parts.

Serdaroğlu stated that due to the widening of the gap between the increase in the minimum wage and the increase in wage increases in recent years, workers’ earnings have become very close to the minimum wage, noting that workers with seniority of 10 years 15 years have become slightly above the minimum wage.

“AN INCREASE IN ANTIQUITY HAS BEEN INEVITABLE”

Serdaroğlu highlighted that a salary increase based on seniority has become inevitable, saying:

“Therefore, we propose that 2.50 lira be paid to the hourly wage for each year of seniority. In addition, after these two increases, we offer a salary increase of 77 lira to the hourly wage of all workers. The compensation for our salary increase offer, which consists of 3 concepts, is 140.5 percent for the first period of 6 months on a proportional basis. This offer corresponds to 20,587 net lira, including bonuses, in the average salary for the first 6 months. With this increase that we offer, the average salary of a metalworker will be 35,000 64 lira, including bonuses. This amount is today a living minimum wage”.

Serdaroğlu expressed that the other six-month salary increase offers will add 8 points to the inflation rate in the six-month period, stating that they also offered an average 450 percent increase in social entitlements during the first six-month period. (AA)
