Childcare and babysitter prices increased in Istanbul; children are entrusted to grandparents

Childcare and babysitter prices increased in Istanbul; children are entrusted to grandparents

The recent increase in prices for daycare centers and caregivers in Istanbul poses a challenge for working parents.

Hacı Murat Kuş, President of the Association of Private Child Care Centers, said: “The price of a babysitter is around 25,000 lira per month. In the price of a nursery, figures ranging between 7 thousand and 14 thousand are pronounced. As a result, school costs have become a significant burden,” he said.

Şeyma Kuvan, the owner of the baby-sitting company, said: “For those who work during the day, it costs between 18,000 and 25,000 lira. This figure includes salary plus insurance costs. It varies between 20,000 and 30,000 Turkish Lira, depending on the equipment of the caregivers, for caregivers who stay at home for 6 days and work as interns.”

Mother Ayla Karaer “They demand something extra from the nurseries. That’s why we can’t give. I will have to work. Either Grandma or Grandma will take care of it,” she said.

Working mothers face high prices when they want to send their children to kindergarten or call a babysitter. With daycare prices ranging from 7,000 to 14,000 Turkish liras per month and nannies’ fees of 30,000 liras, families have to seek help from elders.

Some families, on the other hand, seek the solution by benefiting from the social opportunities of the municipalities. While those in charge of nurseries and kindergartens say that the increase in costs is reflected in prices, caregivers say that individualized education is more important and that prices are adapted to demand.

‘THE FAMILY BUDGET SHOULD BE UP TO 30 PERCENT’

Assessing the rising prices of daycare centers and nannies’ salaries, the president of the Association of Private Daycare Centers, Hacı Murat Kuş, stated in his statement that school costs have become a serious burden:

“The prices of a babysitter oscillate in some houses between 600 and 800 dollars, that is, 25,000 liras per month. The price of a nursery ranges between 7 thousand and 14 thousand. As a result, school fees have become a serious burden.

In this we have rental costs, teacher costs, food prices, aside from that, there are additional values that we have added to our schools, which are branch teachers, that is, if a school has about 8-9 teachers, this corresponds. approximately 13-14 teachers with the services it receives from abroad.

Boutique kindergartens are one of the most beautiful places that can provide for all the developmental processes of children. It should be noted here that yes, some schools may have exceeded a certain number, but this also satisfies supply and demand.

Our parents need to know that school tuition should be no more than 30 percent of the family budget. Families should also think about this. If necessary, they can send them to public schools, but we strongly recommend that they send them to private schools if they can. Because these kids need to be educated along with their peers.”

LIKE A TOWED HAND GRENADE BY PIN

Murat Kuş stated that it would not be very healthy for this child’s development to have a caregiver with him.

Kuş pointed out that immigrants coming from abroad are preferred so that children can learn a foreign language: “No one has any idea if they have a work permit, if they have a criminal record, pedophilia or something else. In fact, it is possible that these families don’t even realize that they have pushed hand grenades with the pins into their houses,” he said.

“PRICES IN ISTANBUL ARE BETWEEN 7 THOUSAND AND 14 THOUSAND TL”

Zeynep Korkmaz, director of a private daycare center in Esenler, Istanbul, said that prices for daycare centers in Istanbul currently range from €7,000 to €14,000.

Korkmaz stated that childcare prices vary by neighborhood, based on neighborhood rents, and said:

Currently 7,500 Turkish lira under normal conditions in our own institution. We offer 3 meals a day. We offer breakfast, lunch and breakfast in the afternoon. We keep our institution open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for our working families; We provide service.

We have English lessons 3 days a week. We have a music lesson one day a week, a chess lesson one day, and a psychologist makes observations of our son. We have provided certain services in this price range in our institution and we are also evaluating the demands”.

CARE RATES INCREASED UP TO 30 THOUSAND TL

Şeyma Kuvan, owner of the company that provides babysitting services, said that nannies’ salary increases depending on their equipment: “For day workers, it ranges from 18,000 to 25,000 Turkish lira. This figure includes salary plus insurance costs. It varies between 20,000 and 30,000 Turkish Lira, depending on the equipment of the caregivers, for caregivers who stay at home for 6 days and work as interns.”

Kuvan said: “If you’ve taken at least one course on child development education, or if you want to learn some foreign grammar, the numbers go up accordingly.”

Regarding the difference between the prices of a daycare and a nanny, Kuvan said: “First of all, you have the opportunity to install cameras throughout the house and monitor the nanny that you keep private, but most daycares don’t. they have that practice. If cameras are placed on some of the playgrounds, not on others, and you may not be able to watch your child as you wish every minute.”

Noting that a nanny is a better option when looking for one-on-one attention, Kuvan said families may prefer daycare in terms of socializing, but since most families in Istanbul live on the farm or near the park, the daily schedule of the park are determined.

Kuvan said: “The caregiver takes the child and plays in the park for at least 2 hours every day and is able to socialize with the other caregivers and other children.”

‘CAREGIVERS AND PRIVATE NURSERIES ARE AT THE PRICE OF FIRE’

Didem Şık, who plans to send his son to a municipal kindergarten due to high prices, said:

“Prices are rising in the private sector, I can’t say anything about it. The metropolitan municipality supported working mothers. In some municipalities there are open nurseries with the name of nurseries. We think something like that if we send it.

It is not possible to leave a child or guarantee their activity at the expense of private caregivers and nurseries. There are daily activity classes. We say to try those kinds of activities, but unfortunately they are too expensive in the current conditions. Of course I would like a nursery. I would like him to play with his own teammates, but it’s not possible at the moment.”

‘THE FATHER OR MOTHER WILL WATCH’

Ayla Karaer, who stated that she would have to seek help from her family because the fees for the crèche and carers were high, stated that they gave up after seeing the prices for the crèche.

Karaer said: “It seems impossible in these living conditions, it is difficult to give into the future. Because now he is exactly 1 year old. My wife just retired. She receives a salary of 7,500 TL. Although she is still working, we are having a lot of problems with her diapers, wipes and her food, and we think that she should take her to daycare when she is 3-4 years old and work too, in fact we think so. , but after seeing the prices, we gave up.”

Karaer stated that more than half of his salary will go to the nursery and that something more is asked of the kindergartens: “Therefore, it is impossible for us to give. I will have to work. Either grandma or grandma will take care of it. There’s nothing to do. “Grandma is a little small, we’ll probably give her to take care of her,” she said. (DHA)
