The rental car was not enough, now the rental plane

As the waste of vehicles in the public sector continues, the reign of leased planes and helicopters has begun. In the first 7 months of the year, 1,000 million 434 million liras were paid for rental vehicles. The money spent on planes and helicopters rented from the private sector reached a whopping 1.653 billion lira, surpassing car rental costs for the first time. Public institutions also paid 726 million lira for the buildings they rented. The money spent on representation, promotion and entertainment amounted to 565 million lira.

THE EXTRACTION HAS NO SPEED

Official budget data from the Ministry of Finance showed that wasteful spending in the public sector has yet to slow and new areas of extravagance have emerged. The reign of rental cars, which recently constituted one of the biggest areas of extravagance, gobbled up 1 billion 434 million lira in the 7-month period from January to July this year. Furthermore, this amount only covers institutions included in the general budget. With the vehicle, there has been a huge increase in aircraft leasing, especially this year. It has been reported that this item, which is included in the budget under the phrase ‘aircraft’, includes both drones and planes and helicopters. It should be noted that after the elections, spending on leased planes was also made, for which a lot of money was poured out during the election period. Public institutions paid 7.7 billion lira for vehicle fuel and 25.2 billion lira for electricity in the 7-month period. While representation and hospitality created a huge bill of TL 565 million, TL 1 billion 67 million was spent on stationery. 2 billion lire was paid for office furniture.

Erdogan spent July without a raise

President Tayyip Erdoğan, who increased his salary by 39 percent with the additional budget, has gone through July without a raise since the additional budget was signed into law on July 27. An addition of 236 thousand lira to the president’s salary under the name of ‘personal expenses’ was made to the additional budget. With this increase, the President’s gross salary, which was 101 thousand liras, increased to 140 thousand 333 liras. Erdogan, who received a pay raise in August, will receive a difference in July. However, it is not known if the payment will be made for 4 days from July 27 or for the entire month. A similar situation was experienced in the increase of 8 thousand 77 liras made to officials.
Since it was published in July, officials have been unable to receive the 15-day difference.
