Government’s first salary increase offer for civil servants announced

In the negotiations of the Public Collective Agreement of the Seventh Duration, where the increases of civil servants and retirees will be determined in the period 2024-2025, the government presented today its first increase offer.

The government’s offer for an increase was 14 percent for the first six months of 2024, 9 percent for the second six months, 6 percent for the first six months of 2025, and 5 percent for the second six months.

The government’s proposal for an increase will be discussed at today’s meeting. If this proposal is not accepted by Memur-Sen, the government will come to the table with new proposals on August 17 and 22.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On August 1, the collective bargaining process began, in which approximately 4 million civil servants and 2.5 million retired civil servants participate.

In accordance with the determined work schedule, with the classification of the offers of 11 service branches and the preliminary discussion of the proposals for the general public, the negotiation phase began in the following process.

In this context, the government presented today to the contracting table the first proposal for an increase in public officials.

Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın also made a statement ahead of today’s meeting. Official Sen President Ali Yalçın, “Public Employer; In a field where the Central Bank has updated its inflation target from 8.8 percent to 33 percent, it needs to put a proposal on the table taking this into account,” he said.

‘OUR HEART IS TO SATISFY ALL REQUESTS’

Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labor and Social Security, made remarks ahead of the meeting, where the first proposal on the increase in civil servants will be revealed.

isikhan said:

* With the agreement of the parties, we will conclude the negotiations successfully.

* We have reached a certain stage in the negotiations where we will determine the rights of our officials and retired officials in 2024-2025.

* We will continue to hold our meetings on economic and social rights.

* We will continue negotiations on 967 items.

* I want you to know that our hearts are in favor of complying with all the demands of the unions.

* We want to culminate this process with reconciliation and sign together the collective agreement of the 7th term.

WHAT DID THE OFFICER-SEN WANT?

Memur-Sen, which is the authorized confederation at the collective bargaining table, requested an increase of 35% in the first 3 months, 10% in the second 3 months, 15% in the third 3 months, and 10% in the fourth 3 months. months, including social participation, for the quarterly periods of 2024.

By 2025, the Confederation required a 25 percent increase in the first 6 months and a 15 percent increase in the second 6 months, including social participation, for 6-month periods.
