106 percent increase in diesel in 3 months
While the cost of the big promises made before the election is borne by the people with high taxes and price increases, the rise in fuel oil, which has seen increases of up to 106 percent in 3 months, cannot be stopped. Finally, with the increase of 1.80 TL that came into force during the week, diesel prices reached historical levels.
5 TL INCREASED SCT
While the price of gasoline, which was TL 19.81 on May 9 before the first round of the elections, increased by 82.4 percent to TL 36.14 as of August 13, diesel fuel , which reached TL 18.59 per liter on the same date, began to be sold at TL 38.30 with an increase of 106.2 percent. In addition to the exchange rate, with the decision to increase the Special Consumption Tax in July, there was a tax increase of TL 5 in liter prices, and large increases in prices were observed at the same time. According to the decision made, the amount of the SCT taken on the price of a liter of unleaded gasoline increased from 2.52 lira to 7.52 lira, and the amount of the SCT taken on the price of a liter of diesel fuel increased from 2.05 lira to 7.05 lira. Following these increases, the price of gasoline, which was TL 28.02 on July 15, increased to TL 34.02 with an increase of 21.4% on July 16, and diesel sold for 26, 32 TL to 32.32 TL with a 22% increase. Yesterday, the most expensive gasoline was sold in Hakkari with a price per liter of TL 37.43, while diesel was sold in the same province with a price per liter of TL 39.19.
Brought historic spike in inflation
These increases opened the door to exorbitant price increases in all items, especially in the costs of transportation and agricultural production. With the knock-on effect of the 5 TL SCT increase, which was implemented in July, inflation in July increased by 9.49 percent per month and experienced the highest July inflation in history. In July alone, the price of fuel increased by 29.04 percent and became the champion of the rise.
