Another increase in minibus transport fares in Konya
In Konya, more than 100 percent increase in minibus fares in 40 days. With the walk in Konya on July 3, the tourist bus fare increased from 6 lira to 8.5 lira. With the new walk decision, the tourist bus fares in the city increased from 8.5 lira to 11 lira and from 13 to 15 lira depending on the distance.
“WE MADE THE DECISION TO REORDER BY OBLIGATION”
Muharrem Karabacak, president of the Konya Union of Chambers of Artisans and Craftsmen (KONESOB), cited rising fuel and other costs as the reason for the rises. In his statement, Karabacak said: “Due to the increase in fuel and depreciation expenses, which are our operating costs, it is necessary to make adjustments in the dolmuş rates. Accordingly, our hop-on/hop-off fee has been re-determined at TL 11.00, TL 13.00 and TL 15.00 depending on distances, and will begin to be implemented on Tuesday, August 15. I hope our passengers understand the reorganization decision we have made out of necessity, and I offer my respects.
“THE CITIZEN CANNOT GO IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES”
Reacting to the increase in public transport fares in the city, Future Party Konya MP Hasan Ekici said:
* “Recently, the Konya Metropolitan Municipality increased its public transport fares by 90 percent. Subsequently, the rates of the minibuses in our city were also increased. Despite the fact that 40 days have passed since the walk, there has been another hike in minibus transport fares. The rate of increase in the last 40 days is greater than 100 percent. The rise in fuel prices and increases in other inputs unfortunately put our merchants in a difficult situation.
* The government continues to put the weight of the mismanaged economy on the shoulders of our people. Due to the rise in the price of fuel, the citizen, who could not even start his car and put up a tent, was no longer able to use public transport. Due to rising costs, many of our service merchants left the industry. Of course, our nation will hold this incompetent government accountable at the earliest opportunity.” (DHA)
