Distribution companies owe the state

With the privatization of electricity distribution, 21 electricity distribution regions were created and one electricity distribution company was established for each region. However, the debt of the distribution companies with the State reached 15,000 million liras. Bringing the issue onto the Assembly’s agenda, CHP İzmir MP Ednan Arslan said: “It is unacceptable that companies do not pay their debts to the public while electricity is cut off for citizens who cannot pay their bills due to financial difficulties. “

Blindfolded

Arslan, in his parliamentary question to Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, stated that “distribution companies have gained another source of revenue by establishing subsidiaries, called the assigned supply company, with the same ownership structure.” Arslan said: “Companies that charge billions of lira for the distribution fee from citizens did not pay the fees to TEİAŞ due to the use of transmission lines, and the amount of debt reached 15 billion TL. It is unacceptable that companies, which charge the citizen’s transmission cost on the citizen’s bill, do not pay their debts to TEİAŞ, that is, to the public, while the citizen’s meter is closed because they could not pay their bill due to problems financial. difficulties. When citizens have debts, all kinds of enforcement and collection procedures are carried out, while the poor quality of services and company debts are tolerated. Arslan said: “Companies do not pay transmission costs to the public and use this as low-interest financing.” What is the reason for this double standard? he asked him.

Will sanctions be applied?

In his motion, CHP MP Ednan Arslan asked the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, the following questions: “Why are accounts receivable from the public from distribution companies not through enforcement? Why this double standard? Which distribution companies do not pay the transmission fee to TEİAŞ and are in debt? What sanctions are applied to distribution companies that do not pay their debts? Will coercive measures or other administrative measures be applied?
