British economy grew 0.2 percent in the second quarter of the year

The British economy grew 0.5 percent in June and 0.2 percent in the second quarter of the year.

According to data announced by the British Office for National Statistics (ONS), growth, which was 0.2 percent in April and 0.1 percent in May, increased to 0.5 percent in June.

While output growth was 1.8 percent in June, the construction sector grew 1.6 percent and the service sector 0.2 percent.

The manufacturing sector contracted 0.3 percent in May, while the service sector grew 0.2 percent.

NO GROWTH EXPECTED IN THE SECOND QUARTER

In the second quarter of the year, which covers the months of April to June, the British economy grew by 0.2 percent. The expectation was that the economy would not grow in the second quarter.

In the second quarter of this year, growth in the services sector was 0.1 percent and 0.7 percent in the manufacturing sector.

Economic growth in the first quarter of the year was 0.1 percent, and the British economy grew 0.1 percent in the second quarter of last year.

In his assessment of the growth figures, ONS Director of Economic Statistics Darren Morgan said the economy showed a strong recovery in June and performance in different sectors such as publishing, car sales and legal services supported growth.

Morgan noted that growth in the economy was at a lower level in the second quarter.

British Chancellor of Finance Jeremy Hunt, in his assessment on his social media account, said: “The British economy is resilient. The world is on a tough road, but the IMF says we will grow faster than France, Germany and Italy “We are laying the foundations for a strong economy, and when we bring inflation down, we will reap the rewards,” he said.(BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
