First statements by pharmacists after the walk: The drug problem will continue
Nurten Saydan, president of the All Pharmacists Employers Union (TEIS), stated in a written statement that she believes that the problem of medicines that cannot be found on the market will continue due to the fact that 14.0387 lira, determined for the value of 1 euro to be used in the price of medicines, with the “Decision on the amendment to the Decision on the price of medicines for human use” published in the Official Gazette.
Nurten Saydan stated that since the current exchange rate of the euro is around 30 lira, there will still be problems in importing medicines imported according to the current exchange rate, “We would like to point out that this upgrade is not at a level that allows the medicine to reach the patient, it will not heal the wound, it can only be a bandage. We hope for real improvements that will facilitate access to medicines as soon as possible.”
MUCH LOWER THE REAL RATE
Saydan stated that the problems experienced in the pharmaceutical industry have become visible in the last 3 years due to the fact that the euro rate in the pharmaceutical industry is determined differently from the actual rate.
“At the beginning of the implementation, the euro price determined for the drug moved in the same direction as the real euro price. However, as of today, the pharma euro exchange rate has been determined at 14.03 lira, while the real euro exchange rate has risen to 30 lira.
With realistic approaches, the euro exchange rate for medicines must be adapted to current and economic realities, and the problem must be urgently solved and the medicines that citizens need reach our pharmacies. (AA)
