The presidency was going to fly, the money in the pocket flew

It was claimed that the presidential system that Turkey passed in 2018 would blow up the country’s economy, but the economy got worse. The money in the citizen’s pocket melted. In 2018, a dollar was 4 lira 53 cents, today it has exceeded 26 TL. There were also significant increases in fees and taxes. While the wages and salaries of citizens fell, the tax burden increased even more. While the one-year passport fee was TL 193.5 in 2018, it rose to TL 1,512 with an increase of 681 percent after the rain of hikes. The passport fee for more than 3 years has increased from 633 lira to 3507 TL. The rate of increase was 453.6 percent.

Driving an average car has also become a luxury for the citizen. The Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) paid for vehicles with 1300 cc and less was 743 TL in 2018, while it increased to 2120 TL this year. While the tax amount for 1301-1600 cc vehicles was 1,294 TL in 2018, it has now reached 3,693 TL, an increase of 185 percent. In addition, additional MTV came. While the liter of gasoline was 6.24 TL in 2018, it has increased to 33.98 TL today. There was an increase of 444.5 percent in the price of gasoline. While a fee of 477 TL was paid for Class B driver’s licenses in 2018, this figure rose to 2,489.7 TL this year with an increase of 421.9 percent.

THEY LOOKING FOR THE LAST PENNY

CHP Karabük MP Cevdet Akay said: “They coveted every penny in the pocket of the citizen. After every earthquake, the AKP also makes profit from these disasters. In the realm of the Special Communications Tax (SCT), which was issued after the Marmara earthquake and later made permanent, a total of 88 billion lira was collected between the years 2000-2023. What happened to this money, the government does not respond,” the statement said.

‘Citizens will become poorer and problems will become chronic’

CHP Karabük deputy Cevdet Akay drew attention to the depreciation of the Turkish lira in 5 years, saying: “In 2018, 1 dollar 4 lira was 53 cents, now it is more than 26 TL. In five years, our money was sealed. Even this figure is an indication that the government’s economic policy has collapsed and a bitter bill is being passed to the citizens. The government, which emptied the state coffers with bogus economic calculations, has now been saddled with price increases and collapsed the nation to the core. The price hike system will impoverish the citizens and make the problems chronic, ”he said.
