Milk production fell 11 percent in May
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the production data for milk and dairy products for May 2023.
Consequently, the amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairy companies is 5.9 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year; In the January-May period, it increased 4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
LOW BUTTER PRODUCTION IN THE JANUARY-MAY PERIOD
In May, the production of cow cheese increased by 12.6 percent, that of butter by 11.7 percent, that of ayrán by 8.4 percent and that of yogurt by 6.4 percent compared to the same month from the previous year; the production of drinkable milk decreased by 11 percent.
In the period January-May, the production of cow’s cheese increased by 7.5 percent, the production of drinking milk by 4.2 percent, that of ayrán by 6.2 percent, and that of yogurt by 1.3 percent. cent with respect to the same period of the previous year; Butter production decreased by 17.9 percent.
MILK PRODUCTION DECREASED 5.9 PERCENT
The amount of cow’s milk collected by commercial dairy companies, which in the previous month was 879,602 tons, increased 7.4 percent in May to 944,349 tons.
Milk production for consumption, which in the previous month was 122,660 tons, decreased 5.9 percent in May to 115,382 tons.
