Annual consumer inflation in Germany was 6.4 percent in June
The German Federal Statistical Office today announced final data on consumer inflation (CPI) for June.
In Germany, the annual CPI was 6.4 percent in June 2023. Furthermore, consumer prices in the country increased by 0.3 percent per month.
Thus, consumer inflation exceeded the level of 6.1 percent in May. While the main data from the Federal Statistical Office was confirmed, it was noted that the rise in consumer prices did not slow down in June.
ENERGY AND FOOD INFLATION
In June, the largest contribution to inflation came from energy prices. In June 2023, energy commodity prices increased by 3% year-on-year. Rising prices for natural gas and electricity came to the fore.
Food inflation was 13.7 percent annually in June. Annual subjacent inflation was 5.8 percent.
